Today's Update

Still looking for the Big Sister of Mr. Cobia. According to reports and my past experiences the search will have to extend out to the Betsy Ross, Eagles Nest or the Hilton Head Tire Reef. This time of year the big Cobia gather around our nearshore artificial reefs. We did manage 4 undersize Cobia on our last trip. Better action was found out in the deep blue. Last week we finally were able to make the run having a blast with Dolphin. Trolling the blue water we hooked 3 landing 1 20 pounder. Marking some live bottom as we were trolling we doubled back dropping some double hook rigs in 185' of water. As soon as our baits hit bottom we loaded up with Charleston Snapper and 15 lb Amberjacks. Talk about rod benders, those things can pull. The best part was with all the commotion school Dolphin were attracted to the boat. They would show up behind the bottom fish and would bite pieces of Squid freelined behind the boat. We landed 6 more nice Dolphin tagging and releasing 3. The Dolphin are beautiful in the blue water as they light up getting excited about the bait in the water, they display bright green, yellow and blue behind their pectoral fins. They also put on a nice show when hooked jumping out of the water, and on light tackle are not easy to bring to the cooler.
Tropical storm Alberto has us in port for now, however won't be long before we hit the water in search of the Silver King.
Lastly, the Fishincoach is proud to announce the affiliation with Palmetto Bay Marina. Palmetto Bay is in the center of Hilton Head thus the Fishincoach's business should be on the rise.
